Careers at ILSI
Build a career protecting migrant workers and strengthening labour migration policy — current opportunities at ILSI in the UK, Nepal and our corridors.
ILSI is built by people who care about the details of a migrant worker's contract as much as the big picture of national development policy. If that combination appeals to you, we would like to hear from you.
Where we hire
- Legal and casework — helpline staff, caseworkers and legal officers supporting members in active corridors.
- Corridor operations — staff based in Nepal and destination countries managing enrolment, verification and reintegration services.
- Policy and research — analysts and researchers producing the evidence behind our publications and policy briefs.
- Development and partnerships — staff working with governments, employers and development-finance institutions on corridor masterplans and investment programmes.
What we look for
Across every role, we look for people who can hold two things at once: empathy for an individual worker's situation, and the discipline to work within legal, financial and governance frameworks correctly. Direct experience of migration — as a worker, a family member, or a frontline caseworker — is valued and welcomed.
Current vacancies, by location and team, are listed below. If nothing matches your background today, you are welcome to register your interest for future openings through our contact page.
How we support new staff
Because ILSI's model spans legal casework, corridor operations, policy research and development finance, new staff often bring deep expertise in one of these areas and limited exposure to the others. We invest in structured onboarding that gives every new employee, whatever their role, a working understanding of the full Home-to-Home journey described in who we are, so that a policy researcher understands what a caseworker's day actually looks like, and a caseworker understands how their casework feeds into the policy positions described in our policy briefs.
Our commitment to staff
The same code of conduct and safeguarding standards that protect our members also govern how ILSI treats its own staff and volunteers, including protection against retaliation for raising a genuine concern through our whistleblower channel. We aim to be an employer whose internal practice matches the standards we ask employers to meet under responsible recruitment. We would rather be judged against that standard than exempt ourselves from it because our mission is protective in nature.
