Accessibility Statement
ILSI is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, targeting WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, given how many members rely on it in urgent situations.
Many people who rely on this website are doing so under stress — a worker seeking urgent help after an injury, a family member trying to reach a helpline, a government official reading on a low-bandwidth connection. Accessibility is not a secondary concern for ILSI; it is central to whether this website does its job.
Our conformance target
ILSI aims for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. This includes commitments to:
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background across the site's brand palette.
- Full keyboard navigation for every interactive element, including forms and verification tools.
- Clear heading structure and descriptive link text, so screen reader users can navigate content efficiently.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and diagrams.
- Forms with clearly associated labels and error messages, particularly on casework and reporting forms such as those in Get Help.
- A low-bandwidth-friendly design, since many members access this site on limited mobile data connections.
Known limitations
As with any large website, some pages or third-party embedded content may not yet fully meet this standard. ILSI treats identified gaps as a priority to fix, not a permanent limitation.
Reporting an accessibility problem
If you find part of this website difficult to use because of a disability, please tell us through our contact page, describing the page and the problem you encountered. We will aim to fix genuine accessibility barriers as quickly as possible, and to offer an alternative way to get the information or service you need in the meantime — for example, over the phone through our helplines.
How we test for accessibility
Accessibility is checked throughout development, not only at the end, using a combination of automated checks and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing on key pages such as our Get Help guides and casework forms. New features are expected to meet the same standard as the rest of the site before they are published.
Alternative formats
If you need content from this website in an alternative format, such as a plain-text version of a specific guide, contact your nearest ILSI office or use our contact page, and we will do our best to provide it in a format that works for you.
